It was a thrilling opening night (April 14) for the 2017 USHL Clark Cup Playoffs. Two of the four games on Friday'[s schedule went into overtime to determine a winner.

The United States Hockey League's opening night saw all eight teams in action, and it was the home teams that prevailed in all four games. Three games are on tap tonight with one match-up playing Game 2 on Sunday.


WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINAL ROUND:

FARGO FORCE AT WATERLOO BLACK HAWKS: Game 1
Trailing 3-1 with 15 minutes left in regulation, the Waterloo Black Hawks stormed back to tie the game with the Fargo Force at 3 goals a piece. Bailey Conger netted the winning goal 4:51 minutes into the overtime for the 4-3 win. Game 2 is tonight (April 15) at 7:05 PM at Young Arena in Waterloo. Game 3 is set for Tuesday, April 18 at 7:05 PM at Scheels Arena in Fargo.

DES MOINES BUCCANEERS AT SIOUX CITY MUSKETEERS: Game 1
The Sioux City Musketeers began the third period up 3-0 over the Des Moines Buccaneers. Des Moines tried to steel the momentum with their first goal of the night at 1:05 into the final frame, but they never pulled any closer as the Musketeers skated to a 4-1 win. Charlie Kelleher (SC) lead scoring with 2 goals. Game 2 is Sunday, APril 16 at 5:05 pm at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City. Game 3 moves Buccaneer Arena in Des Moines on Friday, April 21 at 7:05 PM.


EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINAL ROUND:

MUSKEGON LUMBERJACKS AT DUBUQUE FIGHTING SAINTS:
Muskegon and Dubuque traded the lead through the first 60 minutes. With Fighting Saints leading 3-2 late in the third period, the Lumberjacks scored the game-tying goal with 1:45 left in regulation. It was Colin Theisen (DUB) who scored the winning goal 14:41 into overtime for the 4-3 Dubuque win. Game 2 is Saturday, April 15 at 7:05 pm at Mystique Community Ice Center in Dubuque. Game 3 is slated for Thursday, April 20 at 7:15 pm at L.C. Walker Arena in Muskegon.

YOUNGSTOWN PHANTOMS AT CHICAGO STEEL
The Chicago Steel lead the entire 60 minutes beating the Youngstown Phantoms, 4-1 in Chicago. Despite Youngstown's solid defensive special teams, killing off all five Chicago Power Plays, Chicago over powered the Phantoms. Game 2 is set for Saturday, April 15 at 7:05 PM at Fox Valley Ice Arena in Geneva, IL. Game 3 moves to the Covelli Centre in Muskegon, MI on Friday, April 21 at 7:05 PM.
