Cedar Valley organizations and non-profit groups have the opportunity to apply for free hockey tickets during the 2015/16 season thanks to support from The VGM Group, Inc., the Waterloo Black Hawks announced Thursday

VGM is the new presenting sponsor of the Black Hawks’ Community Ticket Program. Local charities and organizations interested in obtaining tickets through the Community Ticket Program this season are encouraged to call the Black Hawks front office at (319) 232-3444. Since 2002, approximately 7,000 Waterloo hockey tickets have been donated to an array of charitable causes benefitting youth, Good Samaritan efforts, substance abuse prevention and treatment, and many other causes.

“We are so pleased that VGM has stepped in to keep this program going as we prepare for the new season,” said Black Hawks Vice President of Business Operations Joe Greene. “With VGM’s support we can continue grow the game here in the Cedar Valley by providing opportunities which otherwise might not be available.”

Some specific beneficiaries of the Community Ticket Program in 2014/15 included:

  • The Boys and Girls Club of the Cedar Valley
  • Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge volunteers
  • Country View Care Center residents
  • The Drugs Offer No Tomorrow (DONT) program, presented by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office
