The Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets are both one win away from a World Series berth and can punch their tickets today (Oct. 21, 2015).

In the ALCS, Kansas City cruised past Toronto 14-2 at Rogers Centre on Tuesday. A four-run first inning set an ALCS record. The Royals also became the just the third team to score five or more runs in six straight MLB Postseason games and only the second team to score at least five runs in each of their first four ALCS games. The Royals hold a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

In the NLCS, Chicago matched the Mets run for run early in Game 3 last night, but New York eventually pulled away for a 5-2 win. New York slugger Daniel Murphy smacked yet another homerun. That's his fifth straight homerun game tying him with Carlos Beltran as the only players to hit homeruns in five straight postseason games. The Mets have a commanding 3-0 lead in the the series.

WEDNESDAY PREVIEW: Game 5 of the ALCS is set for today at 3:00 PM-CT (on FOX Sports 1) in Toronto. Edison Volquez gets the start for KC, and Marco Estrada will pitch for Toronto. Game 4 of the NLCS will begin at 7:00 PM-CT (on TBS) in Chicago. Steven Matz will start on the mound for New York. Chicago will give the ball to Jason Hammel.

The Royals are sitting pretty with the 3-1 series lead. History shows that 84% of the time the team with a 3-1 lead (in a best-of-seven) series advance to the next round.

Don't write of the Blue Jays just yet. The blue birds won three straight elimination games to advance to the American League Championship Series.

The Mets will go for the series sweep tonight. Only one team 34 tries have been able to rally back from a 3-0 deficit. That team was the 2004 Boston Red Sox.

Chicago's Schwarber will be looking to extend his franchise postseason record of five home runs. His homer off deGrom in Game 3 broke a tie he shared with Alex Gonzalez (2003) and Aramis Ramirez (2003). He's the only player in Major League history to hit five postseason home runs before turning 23.
