All week long, Wartburg Coach Rick Willis preached intensity and execution to the Knights heading into their game at arch-Iowa Conference rival Luther. They responded in a big way and left Decorah with a 47-7 victory on Saturday (Oct. 24, 2015).

No. 22 Wartburg (6-1 overall, 3-1 IIAC) rebounded from last week's debacle in Dubuque with a dominating first half against the Norse (3-4, 1-3), building a 40-0 lead at intermission. Logan Schrader (Killdeer, Ill.) led the offensive onslaught with four touchdown passes in the opening 30 minutes, one shy of a single-game school record.

The Knights' senior quarterback ended the game with 257 passing yards, completing 19 of 21 attempts without an interception. Because of the large lead, he did not play the second half.

Schrader's first touchdown pass was an 11-yard toss to Mitch Rahm (Mount Vernon) with 7:30 left in the first quarter and completed an eight-play, 58-yard drive on Wartburg's second possession of the day. The Knights owned a 6-0 lead after the extra-point kick failed.

Jordan Schmitt (West Union/Turkey Valley) grabbed Schrader's second scoring pass with 56 seconds left in the quarter. The touchdown came at the end of a seven-play, 75-yard drive. The point-after kick gave the Knights a 13-0 edge heading into the second quarter.

Schmitt was one of four receivers who made at least four catches for Wartburg. Robbie Anstoetter (Farley/Beckman Catholic) led the group with 83 receiving yards.

Brandon Domeyer (Manchester/West Delaware) led the Knights' ground attack, rushing for 59 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown. His one-yard rush just 4:04 into the second quarter extended Wartburg's edge to 20-0. The senior tailback later caught a 26-yard scoring pass from Schrader, his only reception of the afternoon.

The Knights rolled up 506 yards of total offense and limited Luther to 190. Wartburg ended the game with 297 passing yards and 209 rushing.

Zach Hiller (Waseca, Minn.) also had a pair of touchdowns for the Knights in their 27-point second-quarter, catching a 35-yard pass from Schrader and later throwing a 19-yarder to Anstoetter.

Back-up running back Parker Hammel (Dubuque/Senior) ended Wartburg's scoring early in the third quarter, recording his first collegiate touchdown on a 37-yard run that put the Knights ahead 47-0.

Luther's only score of the day came on a one-yard run by quarterback Brady Letney with about four minutes left in the third. Letney (Bettendorf/Pleasant Valley) ran for just 24 yards on 27 carries, while teammate Christian Moore (Kendall, Wis.) led the Norse with 30 rushing yards on nine touches.

NEXT UP: After two-straight road games, Wartburg returns home to face Buena Vista on Saturday (Oct. 31, 2015). Kick-off is at 1 p.m. at Walston-Hoover Stadium in Waverly.
