Iowa High School Boys Basketball Rankings – 01/27/2016
Five teams from the Cedar Valley and Northeast Iowa are once again featured in this week's Associated Press boys high school basketball rankings.
Unbeaten Dike-New Hartford (15-0) remains the highest ranked area team from the area. The Wolverines are rated at No. 2 in Class-2A, heading into Thursday night's showdown at Jesup (14-1), the No. 5-ranked squad in Class-1A.
The match-up between the J-Hawks and Dike-New Hartford will likely determine the championship of the North Iowa Cedar League's East Division. The Wolverines handed the J-Hawks their only loss (59-56) of the season on Dec. 15 and currently have a one-game lead over Jesup in the conference standings.
Thursday's game was initially scheduled to be played Tuesday night (Jan. 26, 2016), but was postponed by weather.
One other NICL team is rated in Class-1A. West Division leader Gladbrook-Reinbeck (12-2) moved up one spot from last week, climbing to No. 8 from No. 9.
Two to other area squads are considered to be among the best in Iowa. Waverly-Shell Rock is ranked fifth in Class-3A, a one spot improvement from last week. Cedar Falls, which wasn't ranked a week ago, has returned to the Class-4A survey at No. 10.
