Apparently, there's a "Fight, Fight, Fight" for Iowa in a vacant Niagara Falls, N.Y., building. The walls and rafters are literally ringing for the Hawkeyes.

According to a recently published story in the Niagara Gazette, the University of Iowa's fight song has been echoing from an empty building across the street from the local newspaper's office for seven hours each night the past six months and no one knows why. The marching band music can be heard for a city block in any direction coming from the building's open windows.

It's not known whether the music is a tribute to the Hawkeyes or if it's a prank to annoy local residents. The newspaper failed in its attempt to find the person or persons responsible, so the mystery behind the music continues.

The "Iowa Fight Song" plays in a continuous loop without lyrics daily from 4 to 11 p.m. The noise has led to complaints from residents and customers of a nearby restaurant.

According to the newspaper, the mystery began in August just before the start of Iowa's record-breaking football season. It's continuing now as the Hawkeyes are experiencing their best basketball season in 30 years.

Music and lyrics to the "Iowa Fight Song" were written by Mason City native Meredith Willson in 1950.
