Indiana State Hands UNI Another Road Loss, 74-60

The UNI basketball team continues to struggle away from the McLeod Center. The Panthers suffered their fifth consecutive loss in true road games, falling 74-60 at Indiana State Wednesday night (Jan. 13, 2016).

Brenton Scott led the way offensively for the Sycamores, draining six three-pointers and scoring a career-high 30 points. The victory was Indiana State's fourth in-a-row and seventh in the last eight games.

UNI (10-8 overall, 2-3 MVC) started strong, opening up a 29-17 first-half lead on Klint Carlson's three-pointer with 6:23 remaining. The Panthers led 37-30 at halftime and appeared to be on their way to winning back-to-back games for the first time since November.

Appearances, however, are often deceiving. Such was the case for UNI at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute.

Indiana State (10-7, 4-1) scorched the nets in the second half, making nine of its first 13 shots. The Sycamores started the frame with a 15-3 run and outscored UNI the final 20 minutes, 44-23.

After falling behind, the Panthers rallied to tie the game at 45-45 on a Matt Bohannon three-pointer with 12:47 left. Indiana State responded with an 18-3 run, which gave the Sycamores a 63-48 advantage at the 8:25 mark. They stayed in control the rest of the way.

UNI sophomore Bennett Koch tied a career-high with 18 points on 7-of-10 field goals. Senior Wes Washpun added 16 points as he knocked in 8-of-10 free throws.
