The Fargo Force used three power play goals to secure a 4-2 victory against the Waterloo Black Hawks at Young Arena on Saturday (Dec. 9, 2017)

Waterloo opened the scoring just 1:10 into the action. All three forwards touched the puck in transition, with the rush capped by Garrett Wait snapping in a wrist shot from the top of the right circle.

The Force used their first two power play goals to take the lead before intermission. At 6:38, William Fallstrom was the beneficiary of a tipped pass, which he flipped into an open side. Then with 12.5 seconds to go before intermission, Fargo swung to the lead when A.J. Drobot found the puck and lifted it past the glove of Matej Tomek.

Fargo extended the lead with their third power play goal at 5:50 of the second. Jacob Nordqvist was on the business end of the tally setup by Fallstrom, who recorded his third point of the game. Waterloo got the goal back with their only power play conversion at 15:07. Ben Copeland went to the net to cash in on the rebound of Garrett Klee’s attempt.

For the second consecutive night, Mark Senden capped the scoring with an empty-netter. Saturday’s came with 54.5 seconds remaining.

At the other end of the ice, Strauss Mann picked up the win for Fargo with 32 saves.

The Hawks and Force meet for two more games next Friday and Saturday in Fargo. The weekend series will conclude the pre-Christmas portion of Waterloo’s schedule.
