Bucks’ Slide Continues With Fifth-Straight Setback, 4-1

The Waterloo Bucks have now dropped a season-high five consecutive games and are at .500 for the first time this summer after falling at St. Cloud, 4-1, Wednesday night (Aug. 3, 2016).

Waterloo (9-18, 31-13) jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage, scoring its only run in the top of the second inning. Alex Boxwell got on base with a hustle-double to left-center field and later scored on Luke Barry's single up the middle.

The Rox (18-7, 42-18) took the lead with a pair of runs in the third and doubled their total with two more runs in the sixth inning.

Jared Crescentini (5-3) was charged with his second-straight loss for the Bucks, allowing two runs on five hits over five innings. Crescentini ended his outing with five strike outs and three walks.

St. Cloud starter Dan Metzdorf (4-1) retired 13 consecutive Waterloo batters at one point, while recording his third consecutive victory.  Collin Strall (10) secured the save with the six-out save. Strall struck out two and allowed two hits in two scoreless innings of relief.

UP NEXT: The Bucks return home on Thursday (Aug. 4) for the start of a two-game homestand against first-half North Division champion Eau Claire. First pitch is scheduled at 7:05 p.m. at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo.
