The Waterloo Bucks return home from their six-game road trip to Minnesota following a 4-2 win at Duluth Sunday afternoon (June 26, 2016).

Waterloo jumped to an early lead and never trailed. Starting pitcher Jared Crescentini pitched six strong innings to earn the victory, and Brandon Downey recorded his seventh save as the Bucks improved their record to 11-1 in the last game of a series this season.

The Bucks (17-8) scored three runs in first inning on four consecutive hits. Taylor Boyd and Alex Boxwell started the game with base hits, then Tyler Curtis dropped a perfectly placed bunt single up the third base line to load the bases. Lane Milligan put the Bucks in front 2-0 with a two-run single to right, plating both Boyd and Boxwell. Zack Soria increased the Bucks’ lead to 3-0 with an RBI groundout to the shortstop.

Duluth (12-14) cut Waterloo's lead to 3-1 when the Huskies scored a run in the second inning. They trimmed the margin to one with another run in the fourth, but that's as close as Duluth would get.

Waterloo tallied its final run in the fifth inning. Milligan recorded his second hit of the afternoon with a two-out single to right field and scored when Soria doubled off the base of the left-center wall.

Crescentini (3-0) recorded his fourth quality start of the season in his fifth-straight road start. The right-hander allowed two runs on 10 hits over six innings, striking out a season-high eight while walking one.

Hunter Spencer (1) and Derek Hendrixson (2) each recorded holds in the win and set-up Downey to earn his seventh save of the season. Downey hasn’t allowed an earned run in 15 2/3 innings pitched.

UP NEXT: The Bucks open a five-game homestand on Monday (June 27), hosting the La Crosse Loggers at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo. First pitch in the series opener is at 7:05 p.m.
