The Waterloo Black Hawks exploded for six goals and secured a 6-2 road win against the Lincoln Stars. Waterloo returns to Young Arena tonight for 'Star Wars Night'.

The Black Hawks continue to be one of the hottest teams in the United States Hockey League, winning eight of their last ten games. Waterloo brings a three-game winning streak back home when the Muskegon Lumberjacks come to Young Arena.

A stellar second period gave Waterloo an edge, beginning on special teams. Waterloo’s turnaround began when Evan Dougherty swiped the puck just outside the Lincoln line, then slipped in a shorthanded goal at 3:06. Less than two minutes later, the Hawks were on the power play, and Ben Finkelstein delivered a goal during his first USHL game. The defenseman fired the puck from the deep slot over Tomas Vomacka’s left shoulder.

With the conclusion of Friday’s game in Lincoln, the Hawks can look ahead to settling in at home for the better part of the next several weeks. A Saturday meeting with the Muskegon Lumberjacks opens a six-game homestand.

The Waterloo-Muskegon matchup will be on Star Wars Night; the Hawks will welcome characters from the movie franchise and wear one-of-a-kind Star Wars jerseys to be auctioned after the game with profits benefiting Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity.

Get into the spirit of the evening with characters from the movies on hand in full costume. Star Wars fan club the 501st Central Garrison will represent the Dark Side during the opening faceoff and on the arena concourse. Plan to snap pics throughout the evening and share them with the hashtag #WBHStarWars.

Regardless of what side of The Force fans find themselves, everyone can combine their love of movies and hockey with the Marco’s Mind Trick package. Call the Black Hawks and tell us to give you two attack zone tickets, a Family Video movie rental, a certificate for a large, two-topping Marco’s pizza, and two lightsabers for $40, and we will.
