Lincoln Stars goalie Peyton Jones stopped everything which came his way Saturday as the Lincoln Stars limited Waterloo Black Hawks chances in a 5-0 first-round playoff decision at the Ice Box.

Jones needed just 23 saves for the shutout and was tested with double-digit Black Hawks chances only during the opening period.  Lincoln’s win evens the best-of-five playoff series at one victory per side after Waterloo had prevailed 2-1 in Game 1 Friday.

Lincoln recorded the first goal of the contest at 10:14 of the opening period. Jochim Weberg capitalized from close range after Jack Badini’s shot from a sharp angle had clanked off the post.

Shorthanded and power play goals during the second period boosted the Lincoln lead. At 3:32, a shorthanded two-on-one led to a goal by Collin Peters, set up by Biagio Lerario. Almost exactly ten minutes later, a power play faceoff win set up an opportunity for Trevor Hamilton, and he was able to blast a shot to the twine through traffic.

Hamilton added his second of the game, speeding into the Black Hawks zone on an odd-man rush at 14:07 of the third and knocking in a setup by Grant Jozefek. Jozefek later tracked down a loose puck for an empty net goal to seal the result with 3:15 remaining.
