There were some tense moments in a Cedar Falls neighborhood Wednesday night (May 14, 2014). An 11-year-old girl found a suspicious object in a church parking and took it to a nearby home.

Police were called to investigate the object after it was found outside Orchard Hill Church. Authorities responded to the 3600 block of Laurinda Drive around 6:30 p.m. The road near the home was closed for several hours.

Cedar Falls police contacted the Waterloo Bomb Squad for assistance. Authorities later determined the device was a commercial-grade firework. It was removed from the area without incident.
