The search for a new Cedar Falls Fire Chief has been narrowed down to two.

After a lengthy process the City of Cedar Falls has narrowed the candidates for Fire Chief/Assistant Public Safety Director to two candidates. The City originally started with 25 applicants from 10 different states including 4 internal candidates. After a process for narrowing the list was conducted the Civil Service Commission certified a list of 7 candidates on November 16, 2016.

The top two candidates will be interviewed for a second time on Tuesday, December 13 and Wednesday, December 14, 2016. This interview will consist of the Mayor, City Administrator and members of the City Council. All public safety employees will get a chance to meet the candidates on those dates. The top two candidates are:

Manuel Hoskins from Monroe, Michigan.

Manual Hoskins was employed by the Monroe Public Safety Department for 25 years. He served as Fire Chief for 2 years. He is currently working for the Monroe Public Schools. Hoskins was raised in the Monroe Michigan area.
