Top-ranked Cedar Falls dominated its quarterfinal match at the Iowa High School Girls State Volleyball Tournament Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 8, 2016).

The Tigers (39-3) swept No. 11 West Des Moines Dowling Catholic (27-16) in the tournament opener at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. Match scores were 25-12, 25-17 and 25-17.

Junior Grace Burken led the offensive attack for Cedar Falls with 11 kills. Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) player of the year and UNI recruit Tayah Mahi had 30 assists.

With the victory, the Tigers advance to the Class 5A semifinals for the second-straight year. They'll next play Ankeny at 10 a.m. on Thursday. The Hawkettes (38-5) won their quarterfinal match on Tuesday, beating Linn-Mar of Marion 3-2.
