Things Go From Bad to Worse for Robert Pattinson in First ‘Good Time’ Trailer

As he’s transitioned into the serious-actor phase of his career, former teen girl fantasy Robert Pattinson has become something a fixture on the film festival circuit. This week, he’ll make the journey to Cannes when his latest starring vehicle Good Time plays in the Competition section, and though we common rabble will have to wait until August 11 for the U.S. release, today brings the first trailer for the A24-fronted project. And from the looks of this dizzying swirl of color and brutality, New York’s hometown heroes Josh and Benny Safdie have brought the heat.

Prepare for the End With the New ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ Teaser

If you’re going to tease trailers with shorter versions of the already brief coming attractions, this is the way to do it: With atmosphere, style, and intelligence. (We’ll see about that. Apes together are pretty strong at the box office.)

Therefore, if we create first-person movies, then all that sweet, sweet video game money is ours for the taking!” The truth, of course, is a little trickier than that. The format can work when a filmmaker finds a way to give its perspective narrative importance  —  Unfriended is a strong example of this  —  but too often, the first-person perspective is a neat trick that quickly tired audiences out (sorry, Hardcore Henry).
