Car vs Tractor Accident Sends Elkader Man to Hospital

An Elkader man is in the hospital, after his car collided with a tractor on a rural Clayton County road.

The accident occurred at about 12:45pm Wednesday, on Gunder Road, near Gunder.

27 year old Michael Podolsky was driving his car west, when he tried to pass a westbound tractor driven by 26 year old Andy Livingood of Postville. He was pulling a haybine at the time.

The car sideswiped the tractor's rear tire, went into a ditch, and rolled onto it's top.

Podolsky was aircared to University Hospitals in Iowa City, but a condition report was not available.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Clayton County Sheriff, Elgin Fire, and Clermont EMS.
