Evansdale police are investigating an accident that ended with a car in the Cedar River Thursday night (Dec. 21, 2017).

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of River Forest Road and Central Ave. around 7:45 p.m. When they arrived, officials found one car had left the roadway, went up over the flood dike and landed in the river. Several police officers and firefighters were at the scene, working to pull the vehicle out of the water and gathering evidence.

Tire tracks could be scene in the grassy area between River Forest Road and the dike, where the car appeared to leave the street (photo below).

It's not yet known if anyone was injured in the crash or if other vehicles were involved. Details about the accident weren't immediately available.
