Fayette County authorities have arrested a Missouri man for allegedly breaking into properties in rural Oelwein.

Nathan Edgar, 30, of Van Buren, Mo., is charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, second-degree theft, trespassing, and driving while suspended.

Sheriff's officials were alerted of a burglary in progress at an address on "J" Ave., east of Oelwein, around 7 PM on Sunday (July 1, 201). According to authorities, the owner of the property had confronted a man who was stealing things out of a machine shed. The suspect then fled.

Deputies stopped a vehicle in the area and arrested Edgar, sheriff's officials said.

Authorities believe that Edgar also burglarized a machine shed near Oelwein and took some items, along with the vehicle he was driving and the clothes he was wearing. He then allegedly drove to the "J" Ave. property and broke into a machine shed.

Fayette County sheriff's officials were assisted by West Union police.
