A pickup and horse-drawn buggy collided in Buchanan County, injuring three children Tuesday morning (May 23, 2017).

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Fairbank-Amish Blvd. (County Road W-13), east of Littleton.

According to sheriff's officials, the buggy turned into the path of the pickup while trying to enter a private driveway on the other side of the road. Both vehicles were traveling south when the crash happened.

Authorities said four children were inside the buggy at the time of the accident. Three of them were transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City to be treated for unknown injuries.

Officials identified the pickup driver as Justin Annis, 33, of Fairbank.
