A Brandon man is facing multiple charges following an incident in Cedar Falls on Sunday (July 12, 2015).

Cedar Falls police were dispatched to 1226-3 Ashworth Drive in reference to an assault in progress. Graig Thomas Bemiss, 36, allegedly went to the residence and assaulted a male who was visiting the female tenant. Bemiss is also accussed of damaging several items in the garage before breaking into the house.

According to police, the woman called 911 and fled the house with the assault victim. Bemiss allegedy damaged more property in the house, then fled the scene in a vehicle when Cedar Falls officers arrived.

Police later found Bemiss' vehicle abandoned in the parking lot of a businesses in the 4500 block of Algonquin Drive. Officers searched the area, and located Bemiss after a short foot pursuit.

Bemiss was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

  • 2nd-Degree Burglary, a Class "C" Felony
  • 3rd-offense Operating While Intoxicated, a Class "D" Felony
  • 2nd-Degree Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, a Class "D" Felony
  • Driving While License Barred, an Aggravated Misdemeanor
  • Eluding a Peace Officer, a Serious Misdemeanor
  • Violation of a Protective Order, a Simple Misdemeanor
