Facing elimination, the Toronto Blue Jays smashed the Kansas City Royals 7-1 to force Game 6 in the American League Championship Series. The series moves back to Kansas City Friday night.

Toronto's pitcher Marco Estrada faced one batter over the minimum during his first seven innings of work. He eventually was pulled in the eighth giving up only one runs and striking out five. Chris Colabello homered and Troy Tulowitzki score three RBI to help the Blue Jays to win.

The Royals starter Edinson Volquez was just as effective as Estrada until the sixth inning. He walked three batters and hit the next batter to start bottom half of the the sixth. The Blue Jays ended up scoring four that inning. KC's bats only mustered one run, but a rally never yielded another run.

GAME 6 PREVIEW: Kansas CIty leads the best-of-seven series, 3-2. Game 6 of the ALCS is Friday at Kauffman Stadium. FOX Sports 1 will carry the game with coverage starting at 6:00 PM-CT.

David Price is listed as the starting pitcher for Toronto while Yordano Ventura gets the call for Kansas City. Price has yet to score a MLB Postseason win this year as a starter. When Ventura starts during the postseason, the Royals have won six of the last seven games.

The Blue Jays will need to win the next two games in order to return to the World Series for the first time in 22 years.

Prior to the 2014 season, Kansas City had missed the playoffs for 28 straight years. Now they are one win away from a second straight World Series appearance. They lead 3-2

Teams that held a 3-1 lead in a best-of-seven series have advanced 67 out of 79 times.

The last team to overcome a 3-1 deficit was the 2012 San Francisco Giants. They came back to beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2012 National League Championship Series. That Giants team won the World Series and, like the Blue Jays, also recovered from an 0-2 hole in the Division Series.
