In only his second start, newly signed goaltender Trevor Gorsuch helped snap a ten-game Waterloo Black Hawks losing streak.  On Friday December 5, 2014, The Black Hawks downed the Fargo Force on the road, 4-1.

The Black Hawks jumped out to an early lead.  After the first period, Waterloo led, 2-0.  On a power play at 11:54, an Alec McCrea shot changed directions just outside the crease, setting up Max Coatta with an open net to score the icebreaker. Just over two minutes later, Phil Beaulieu rifled a shot from the right circle which went off a stick and past a startled Mathias Israelsson.

The team’s traded goals in the second period. Waterloo took immediate advantage of their only power play during the frame; seven seconds into the situation, Henrik Rommel batted in the rebound of a Brock Boeser point shot at 10:59. However, the Force answered at 17:14 when Zach Yon scored on a low opportunity from the right circle.

Brock Boeser scored the only goal in the third, cashing in on a breakaway that started from his own blue line at 8:16. The final period wasn't the busiest for goalie Trevor Gorsuch, but it was when he made his best saves. With approximately seven minutes remaining, he denied a T.J. Roo chance in transition, one of seven stops in the period and 25 during the contest.  Israelsson made 31 saves.

New Black Hawks goaltender Trevor Gorsuch joined the team Thursday, and he was put to work that night against the Force.  Gorsuch stopped 23 of 27 shots he faced in his Waterloo Black Hawks debut.  Prior to joining the Hawks, he had been playing in the North American Hockey League for the Michigan Warriors.  He had a 2.32 goals against average and a save percentage of .931 for the Warriors.  This not his first stint in the USHL.  The St Charles, MO native played two games for the Tri City Storm during the 2011-2012 where he went 0-2.
