The Waterloo Black Hawks have three games on the schedule this week and two are inside Young Arena.

Three More Starting Tuesday
The Hawks play the first of three games this week, beginning on Tuesday evening against the Chicago Steel. Waterloo topped the Steel, 4-1, on Friday in the only other meeting between the teams during 2015/16.

Following a two-day sojourn, the Black Hawks then face the Sioux City Musketeers on the road Friday evening, seeking their fourth win in the last five tries from the oldest rivalry in the United States Hockey League. Waterloo claimed the last renewal, 6-1, on February 26th.

The weekend concludes against the Green Bay Gamblers Saturday. The Gamblers defeated the Hawks, 3-2, when the teams last met on October 10th.

Morris Dancing Higher
Hawks goaltender Cale Morris needs one win to surpass C.J. Motte for sole possession of third on the club’s junior era wins list. Morris has 36 wins since being acquired by Waterloo in January of 2015. He is currently three victories shy of 60 in USHL play. Morris’ first 21 wins came as a member of the Chicago Steel, against whom he has won both of his starts since being traded to the Hawks, including an 18-save effort last Friday.

Match Game
With eight games remaining on the season schedule, the Black Hawks need two victories to equal their win total from 2014/15. Waterloo’s current pace also puts the team on target for an almost identical number of goals for and against as accumulated last season (191 and 182, respectively). The Hawks have already matched their home win total (15) from a year ago, with five opportunities remaining to outdistance the mark.

Lohin Unloading
Forward Ryan Lohin has recorded a point in all six games he has played as a member of the Black Hawk. The Massachusetts-Lowell recruit has stacked up five goals and five assists in that time. Including his final appearance as a member of the Madison Capitols, Lohin is riding a seven-game point streak, the longest active run in the USHL. The surge has boosted Lohin to 49 total points and tenth in United States Hockey League scoring, one point behind linemate Sam McCormick.

Weekly Recap
Two goals apiece from Zach Yon and Nick Swaney helped the Hawks claim a 6-5 road win against the Muskegon Lumberjacks Thursday. Swaney’s second goal gave Waterloo the lead for the first time with 0.9 seconds remaining in regulation. The Hawks followed up on Friday by outdistancing the Chicago Steel, 4-1. Yon scored two additional goals, including the only marker during the first two periods of play. Saturday, two Ryan Lohin goals provided a good beginning, but the Dubuque Fighting Saints were responsible for the rest of the offense in a 5-2 decision.
