Black Hawk Hotel’s 170-Year Anniversary Bash on Main Street

The Black Hawk Hotel is the oldest business in Cedar Falls and the second longest continuously operating hotel in the country. This building is listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places

Since it opened for business in 1853, the hotel itself has undergone significant renovations and renaming over the years.

“The Black Hawk Hotel is a community landmark, an institution. It’s so important to me that it’s protected and celebrated. We really try to make it a true reflection of the best of Cedar Falls and give visitors an understanding of why we love our community,” said owner and operator Mark Kittrell.

Now, in celebration of 170 years of business, the team behind the Black Hawk Hotel and Eagle View Hospitality will be throwing an anniversary party.

This celebration is set to take place at the hotel located on 115 Main Street on Thursday, November 30th. It is going to be an open house style event that will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Attendees will feature tours of the hotel, live music, drink specials from the adjoining watering hole the Bar Winslow, and birthday cake from Le Petit.

In addition, guests should also expect to receive a special "birthday card" with some fun discounts or gifts from the Eagle View Hospitality team. There is a grand prize which consists of a weekend getaway at the historic hotel.

“The hotel comes alive on weekends with folks coming to enjoy Downtown Cedar Falls and celebrating special occasions. I think people would be surprised to know the hotel hosts a lot of Cedar Valley locals, too! It’s a great place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or weekend getaway,” said Deanna Hoffmann, Vice President of Hospitality.
