Black Hawk County Supervisors Approve Country View Sale

Supervisors in Black Hawk County are going forward with the sale of Country View, the nursing and mental health care center north of Waterloo.

On a 4-1 vote, the Board agreed to sell the facility to Skokie, Ill.-based Pritok Capital for $4 million. The transaction is expected to be finalized around Dec. 31, 2018.

Under terms of the sale agreement, existing residents will be allowed to live at Country View for at least another 10 years. The deal makes no guarantee that Pritok will retain the current 190-member staff, which will be laid off by the county when the sale is complete.

Country View has struggled financially for several years. Records show the facility has lost about $150,000 each of the past two months.
