A weekend benefit for a young northeast Iowa boy, recovering from a stroke, is being deemed a tremendous success.

11 year old Chase Aeschliman of Wadena was injured during football practice in August; an artery in his neck had detached, and triggered a stoke.

Chase was taken to Gunderson Lutheran hospital in LaCrosse, where they performed surgery. The stroke did cause paralysis on his right side, and affected his speech. He is recuperating, receiving therapy at a facility in Ankeny.

On Sunday, friends, family, neighbors, over a thousand people, came out to support Chase and his family, with a benefit in West Union, organized by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. Chase's father, Kenny, is a county deputy.

Live and silent auctions, raffles and food sales, all contributed to paying Chase's medical bills.

Friends have started "#(hashtag)teamchase" to show their support for Chase and his family.

Also, donations may be made by going to the "youcaring" website: www.youcaring.com/chase-aeschliman-laine-aeschliman-kenny-aeschliman-419404.

Chase is a sixth grader at North Fayette/Valley Middle School this year.
