Linn County deputies were called to a rural business where a man was shot by another; they then arrested the man who was shot.
It happened shortly after 4:30pm Monday (Aug. 29), at Palo Auto Salvage, located on Old Ferry Road. Authorities were initially called out on the report of a trespasser.

Responding officers found 59 year old David McVay and 45 year old Melvin Roberts, both of Cedar Rapids; Roberts had a gunshot wound to his right leg.

McVay told deputies that Roberts was trespassing on the property, and an argument began between the two men.

McVay explained that he fired one shot, hitting Roberts in the leg.

Roberts was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids; after his release, he was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

The incident is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed involving the shooting.
