Drivers Beware! The Iowa State Patrol is planning to run a safety checkpoint in Buchanan County later today (Friday, June 12, 2015).

The checkpoint is scheduled to run from 4 to 8 p.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 380. All southbound motorists will be directed off the interstate and into the scale house, located near mile marker 54.

Several local area law enforcement agencies will be assisting state troopers at the checkpoint site. According to the Iowa State Patrol, authorities will be checking to ensure safety equipment is working on each vehicle and that drivers have a valid operator’s license.

During the operation, signs will be posted to direct motorists. Travelers won’t be stopped very long, the Iowa State Patrol said.
