Black Hawk County authorities have scheduled a news conference to release the laboratory results on bones found near La Porte City two weeks ago.

The press briefing will take place at the La Porte City Fire Station at 4 PM on Wednesday (Aug. 29, 2018).

According to sheriff's officials, the findings of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation State Laboratory evaluation on bones discovered in and around Wolf Creek on Aug. 14 will be revealed.

On Aug. 16, Sheriff Tony Thompson and La Porte City Police Chief Chris Brecher announced that recreational kayakers had found the remains two days prior. Investigators said then that they believed the discovered remains are those of 16-year-old Jake Wilson, but more testing was needed to confirm the identification.

Wilson is the autistic teenager who went for a walk near Wolf Creek the evening of April 7 and never returned home. His disappearance prompted a massive search that involved hundreds of volunteers, and state, local and federal authorities.
