John Carpenter Casually Announces a New ‘Halloween’ in 2018, Time to Freak Out
No, this is not a drill. Paramount shelving the new Friday the 13th so soon before production was supposed to begin came as a somewhat sudden disappointment, but, to paraphrase Julie Andrews, when Hollywood closes a door, somewhere they open a window. As it turns out, that window is a Halloween reboot, which already has a director, a screenwriter, a studio, a release date, and, quite possibly, a score from the horror master himself, John Carpenter.
Chris Evans Pranking People With a Captain America Escape Room Is the Funniest Thing You’ll See Today
When you’re a part of the biggest blockbuster franchise of the hour, what do you do on your time off? Well, if you’re Chris Evans, you set up a secret escape room and prank people into yelling “Hail Hydra!” in public places.
Life Is Lonely, Miserable, and Hilarious in the New ‘Wilson’ Trailer
It seems depression is becoming a hotter topic for comedians these days, with many TV shows and movies out there to surprise us with how funny feeling miserable all the time can be. BoJack Horseman is billed as a comedy show but often it’s more of a drama, exploring all kinds of neuroses within its main characters while sidestepping completely happy endings for all of its season finales. Woody Harrelson’s Wilson seems to do much of the same, introducing us to a character who is just a complete mess and giving him an opportunity to try his best to sort his life out.
‘CHIPS’ Trailer: California, It’s Time to Party
You tilted your head to the side and went, “Huh,” when you first heard about it. You said to yourself, “Oh yeah, I’d forgotten about that,” when you saw casting news about it. Now, you can see it for yourself — or, at least, two minutes and forty-two seconds of it: Dax Shepard’s CHiPs movie remake finally has its very first trailer.
‘The Lure’ Trailer: Drunks, Debauchery, Pop Music, Oh, and Man-Eating Mermaids
Mermaids: pretty, kind half-human half-fish people who love to swim with little fish and sing and comb their hair with dinglehoppers, who just happen to also have a taste for human flesh. The Disneyfied version of Ariel tones that last aspect of their behavior way down, but in actual mermaid lore, the creatures get their sustenance by luring sailors overboard so they can feast on their flesh. The new film The Lure, debut of Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Smoczynska, made plenty of waves touring the festival circuit last year, and is about to make port in the U.S. with its first trailer.
Watch Justin Lin’s Live-Action ‘Jetsons’-Inspired Commercial
It’s a fun treat when directors you admire get hired to direct really cool-looking commercials. Spike Jonze’s fragrance ad featuring an acrobatic Margaret Qualley went viral last year. Neill Blomkamp has a whole series of commercials detailing the exploits of Clive Owen’s mysterious “Driver,” a man hired for his getaway car skills who just so happens to drive a fancy-schmancy BMW. Now, Justin Lin, whom you might know best from the Fast & Furious movies, has joined the fray with a futuristic and yet realistic commercial for a company called Arconic inspired by The Jetsons.
Marriage Is Real Complicated in the ‘Between Us’ Trailer
In the last few years, we’ve seen a lot more movies that take a more honest look at love in all its complexities, rather than the fairytales that have usually been handed to us wrapped up in a perfect bow. The latest in this new let’s-be-honest-about-how-weird-relationships-are-for-once trend is Between Us, a film from Mexican director Rafael Palacio Illingworth.

Unbeatable entertainer Debbie Reynolds, star of Singin’ in the Rain and mother to Carrie Fisher, has died at the age of 84 after suffering a stroke earlier on Wednesday.
New ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Featurette Dives Into the Assassins’ Mythology
If you don’t play Assassin’s Creed, you might be a little confused as to what the upcoming movie is all about. We know from the trailers that Michael Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, who is a descendant of someone who lives during the Spanish Inquisition, and who is forced by Marion Cotillard to go back in time and relive his ancestor’s past as a gravity- and physics-defying assassin fighting against the Templar Knights. Now, with a new featurette, we’re able to delve deeper into the mythology of Assassin’s Creed to figure out exactly why these two groups are fighting.
Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern Have a Daughter in the ‘Wilson’ Red Band Trailer
You know those actors you’ve always wanted to see reunite in a movie but never thought in your wildest dreams you’d get the chance? Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern both co-starred in 2005’s The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio, and now they’re together again for Wilson, a comedy from The Skeleton Twins director Craig Johnson. Johnson has proven to be adept at handling complicated family relationships while keeping a wry sense of humor the whole time, and in its first trailer, Wilson looks to be just that.
