Fayette County authorities are investigating an arson fire that occurred at a residence in Westgate last night (Monday).

The Westgate fire department was called out at about 10pm Monday, to a home in the 200 block of North Cass Street, a house formerly occuppied by the Jan Figi family; however, they recently moved, and no one was living at the residence at the time of the blaze.

The Westgate fire chief credited 2 eye witnesses with spotting the blaze, and calling 911, which kept the damage to a minimum. No one was injured battling the fire; damage was estimated at $3,500.
