Arrest for Drunk Driving in Quarry, Assaulting Deputy
Fayette County authorities have arrested a Waterloo man for allegedly driving drunk at a local quarry, then assaulting an officer.
At about 3pm Tuesday (April 12) the sheriff received a call, reporting that a vehicle was tearing around a sand quarry near Sumner, and became stuck.
Investigating officers found 38 year old Steven Curtis Rechkemmer of Waterloo at the scene; he was arrested and taken to the Fayette County Jail.
While being booked into the jail, Rechkemmer apparently assaulted a detention officer. He now faces charges of assault on a correctional officer, as well as operating while intoxicated-2nd offense.
Rechkemmer was held until his initial court appearance.
