Fayette County Women Charged In Prostitution Sting

Two Oelwein women have been arrested in a prostitution sting.

After a lengthy investigation by Fayette County sheriff's officials, Mistie Schmidt and Sandra McMurrin were taken into custudy on Tuesday (Aug. 29, 2017). Schmidt, 29, was arrested for Pimping. McMurrin, 28, was charged with several counts of prostitution.

According to investigators, Schmidt and McMurrin had advertised for escort services on an internet site called "The Back Page", which was determined to be a cover-up site for prostitution. The two would meet potential clients in several surrounding cities, as well as at their residence in Oelwein.

Both women were being held in the Fayette County jail on $5,000 bond.

The investigation continues, and sheriff's officials said more charges and arrests are possible.
