A West Union man is recovering from injuries he sustained in a traffic accident, in which he was trapped in his vehicle, overnight.
Authorities determined that 28 year old Austin Ruroden was driving north on Highway 150 near Fayette on Thursday,(Dec. 22) at about 7pm, when he lost control of his pickup. The vehicle crossed the center line, entered a ditch, and struck a cement box culvert.

Ruroden was trapped in the wreckage overnight, but managed to free himself the next morning. He was able to make his way to the shoulder of the road, where he was found.

Ruroden was taken to the West Union hospital, where he was treated for multiple fractures, internal injuries, and lacerations. He was later transferred to Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

The 1999 Chevrolet pickup was totaled. Charges are pending.
