The public’s first look at Amy Schumer’s upcoming crime-comedy Snatched came a couple of months ago, when she posted that video of her and her costar Goldie Hawn doing a lightly choreographed dance routine tribute to Beyoncé’s “Formation” and instantly earned the ire of the internet. Somewhat less likely to earn her charges of cultural appropriation, however, is the official red-band trailer for that movie, which Schumer released today in the hopes that she has not yet fallen entirely out of favor with the general public. The people will most likely smile more kindly on Schumer when she’s getting a beverage spat on her instead of putting her face on an anthem for black womanhood — the spit take can bridge any cultural gap, truly.

She and Hawn play a daughter-mother pair in need of a change of pace; Schumer has just been dumped by her bearded boyfriend (Randall Park), Hawn doesn’t have too much going on apart from crafting demonic clay sculptures at the local YMCA. The pair decide to get their respective grooves back with a trip to the sun and sand of Brazil, but after an embarrassing incident involving Schumer, her intimate anatomy, and a public bathroom sink, disaster strikes. The two women are out on a jungle sojourn when a group of criminals abduct them both and thrust them into an adventure of danger and well-placed disses. (The line about the two women being like the sexual equivalent of melted candles is as funny as it is mean.)

Schumer made her grand debut as feature-film leading lady with the successful Trainwreck in 2015, but successfully spearheading a second comedy vehicle will be the truest test of her celebrity, establishing that that hit was no mere fluke and that Schumer’s got staying power. And it looks like she just may pull it off, too — she’s got a nice comic chemistry with Hawn. And most appropriately, the film comes to theaters on Mother’s Day weekend! Spend this Mother’s Day with the woman who gave you life, intently avoiding eye contact as Schumer cracks jokes about whale reproductive material.
