A man threatening to harm himself in Tripoli, held off authorities for over 3 hours.

According to the Bremer County Sheriff, the incident began at about 11am Thursday, when authorities received a report of a man threatening harm to himself with a weapon, at a residence at 201 1st Street SE in Tripoli.

Authorities responded, and after a 3 and a half hour standoff, the man was talked into giving himself up.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Allen Hospital in Waterloo for further treatment.

No charges are pending at this time.

The Bremer County Sheriff and Tripoli Police were assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DOT Enforcement, Tripoli EMS, and Tripoli Fire Department.
