Accident Near Cherry Hill Park Kills 1 Driver

Authorities have not yet released the name of the driver killed in a two-vehicle accident on the west edge of Cedar Rapids.
It happened just before 6pm Tuesday (April 26), at the intersection of "E" Avenue and Stoney Point Road NW, just north of Cherry Hill Park.

An eastbound vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign, and collided with a northbound vehicle, driven by 25 year old Brianna Jo Collum of Cedar Rapids. Collum was not hurt.

The other vehicle continued east, into a ditch, became airborne after strikiing a driveway, then collided with a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene; the victim's name is being withheld until relatives can be notified.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
