Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies responded to an accident on Hwy 63 yesterday, involving injuries.

Around 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 4th, Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 63 and Mt. Vernon Rd for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Elba Kundert, 26, of Waterloo, was traveling northbound on Hwy 63 when the 2007 Ford Freestyle she was driving struck a semi trailer in the left lane. The Semi driven by Mark Shaw, 50, of Chicago; was also headed northbound when he attempted to make a u-turn through the median from the northbound right lane to head back southbound.

Elba Kundert, her husband Matthew Kundert, 26, and the couple's infant child were transported by ambulance to a local Waterloo hospital. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Shaw was cited for an unsafe turn.

Black Hawk County Deputies were assisted by the Dunkerton Fire and Ambulance, Denver Ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol.
