Authorities are reporting a triple fatality traffic accident in eastern Iowa early this (Tuesday, July 5) morning.
It happened shortly after 3:30am on Interstate 380 in Johnson County, at mile marker 10, near Swisher.

A car in the southbound lane was headed north, in the wrong direction, when the driver lost control and went onto the shoulder.

Another car swerved to avoid striking the first vehicle, but the vehicles collided.

Three people died in the accident, however the Iowa State Patrol has not identified any of the victims, or which cars they were occupants.

The accident is still under investigation.
