Three people have died and three injured in a two vehicle accident in eastern Iowa.
It happened on the south side of Marengo, just south of Highway 6, shortly after 6:30pm Thursday (June 30).

A sport utility vehicle driven by 40 year old Renee Jones of Williamsburg, dropped onto the shoulder of the road. Jones over-corrected, crossed the center line and collided head-on with an SUV driven by 44 year old Kimberly Stevenson of Marengo. Jones' vehicle then entered a ditch and rolled.

Three passengers, all from Williamsburg, were killed; they were identified as 42 year old Marilyn Coon, 14 year old Hailey Cruise, and 11 year old Cherokee Niemann.

Both drivers and one other child passenger were injured and taken to area hospitals.

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
