A chase involving an armed suspect in downtown Waterloo has resulted in three people being arrested.
The incident began when an officer spotted a person waving a gun out of the window of a moving vehicle on 4th Street Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 16, 2016).

The officer gave chase, with assistance from Waterloo police and Black Hawk County deputies, when the driver failed to pull over.

The pursuit ended, when the vehicle crashed into a bridge railing at U.S. Highway 63. The three occupants then fled on foot, but were quickly caught.

A gun was apparently tossed from the vehicle; officers, including the Black Hawk County Sheriff's K-9, found the weapon in the bushes near a home on Webster Street.

No one was injured.

The driver, 18 year old Shauntez Porter, is charged with eluding, interference with official acts, and not having a drivers license. The other two suspects were male juveniles, whose names have not been released.
