Man Wanted for Burglary, Serious Assault, Considered Dangerous
Fayette County authorities are looking for a suspect who allegedly broke into a Clermont home over the weekend, and seriously injured the resident.
The incident happened at about 9:30pm Sunday; the Fayette county sheriff got a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in Clermont.
An investigation determined that 41 year old Mathew Durnan of Clermont had broken into a woman's home and assaulted her. The back door had been broken; the woman was seriously injured. Durnan then fled before authorities arrived.
The woman, whose name was not released, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
An arrest warrant was issued for Durnan, who faces charges of burglary in the first degree, domestic abuse causing serious injury, and violation of a no-contact order. If convicted, Durnan could be sentenced to up to 28 years in prison.
According to the Fayette county sheriff, Durnan should be considered dangerous; if anyone knows of his whereabouts, they are asked to contact the Fayette County sheriff's office or local authorities.
