Waterloo police are investigating two incidents where shots were fired in the city, as well as an armed robbery Wednesday night (Aug. 31, 2016).

In the first shooting incident, officers responded to shots fired on Newell Street around 9:45 p.m. Police discovered a person with a gunshot wound to one of his legs. The victim, who was not identified, was taken to Unity Point Health-Allen Hospital; a condition report was not available.

The second shooting happened happened about an hour later in the 900 block of W. Mullan Ave. A 911 caller reported hearing shots in the area. Investigating officers found that a home had been hit multiple times, but no one was injured. It was not known if the shootings were related.

Also Wednesday, just before 10 p.m., Waterloo police were called to investigate an armed robbery at New Star Liquor on Lafayette St.

Police didn't release much information about the hold-up, but said two men were wearing masks when they entered the business. One of the suspects was armed with a gun.

Both suspects fled the scene before authorities arrived. No serious injuries were reported.

The robbery and shootings remain under investigation.
