2 RAGBRAI Accidents, One a Hit-and-Run

Two accidents involving RAGBRAI riders are under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff.

The first happened just before 2:30pm Thursday on Blairs Ferry Road; a bicycle operated by 34 year old Franklin Yawn of Warner Robins, Georgia, ran into the back of a truck driven by 65 year old Ronald Steenhoek of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Steenhoek had stopped for another bicycle in front of him.

The injured biker was taken to St. Luke's Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The other accident was a hit and run, and occurred just before 8pm on Shellsburg Road.

The bicyclist, 38 year old Joanna Beugnon of Roswell, Georgia, was traveling east when she was hit from behind by a vehicle that had then left the scene.

Beugnon was taken to St. Luke's to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
