That was what a truck labeled “mattresses and cushions“ was attempting to smuggle into California from Mexico Thursday when it was intercepted by customs agents. Valued at $18.96 million, the 31,598-pound bust is the second-largest in American history, topped only by a 35,265-pound bust at a nearby California border in 2013.
