The theory behind the city of Waterloo's street system is loaded with plenty of fascinating civil engineering quandaries. For example, there are plenty of 'interesting' street names, to say the least.

Whether you driving on E. Mitchell Avenue crossing a series of streets named after states (Minnesota, Ohio, or Wisconsin) or you're driving north on Logan Avenue crossing intersections loaded with people's first names (Esther, Anita, or Louise), there was some thought behind the various street names.

But ... then there are this little nuggets that make you wonder what they were thinking.

Bratnober Street - This HAS to be some ones last name. It sounds like a word a three-year-old would think is a bad name to call someone.

Lakeside Street - This street in North Waterloo is not even by a lake by the way. You have to travel a few miles even before you see a body of water.

Hawver Court - Here is another “it must be a real name road”, but the real head-scratcher, it’s not a court at all. Instead it’s a street that's one block long.

Rocky Road -  An example of delicious creativity at its finest.

Mount Village & Mount Carmel Drive - We didn’t realize that there were any major elevation changes big enough to form a mount in Waterloo.

Santa Maria Drive - This drive connects to Columbus Drive, but Pinta & Nina Drive are nowhere to be found.

Midpoint Boulevard - This little gem masquerades like it is located somewhere in the middle of Waterloo when in fact it is on the east side by the airport.

City View Street - A city view that is buried in the suburbs.

John Street - Really? Where is Doe Avenue?

WCF & N Drive - 'WTF' does the ‘N’ stand for?
